Little Orbit is a baby tracker made by a family, for families. This page explains, in plain words, what the app keeps, where it goes, and what you control. The short version: your log is yours, it lives on your phones and in your own iCloud, there are no ads, and we never sell your data.

What the app keeps

Everything you log (feeds, sleep, diapers, growth, health notes, photos of the day, milestones), your baby's and family's names and birth details, and your settings. This is stored on your iPhone.

Syncing between your phones

If you use iCloud, Little Orbit syncs your log through Apple's CloudKit, in your own private iCloud database. When you invite a partner, Apple shares that data with them through iCloud sharing. We can't see your iCloud data.

Orbit, the AI helper

Orbit's AI features are optional and only run when you use them: asking Orbit a question, daily star readings, insights, reading a diaper photo, or scanning pages from a baby book. When you do, the question and the parts of your log it needs (and any photo you chose to have read) are sent through our server to an AI provider (Anthropic) to write the answer. Our server keeps a count of how much each install has used, against a random install ID, not the content of your questions. On iPhones that support it, some features can run with Apple's on-device model instead, which never leaves the phone. You can also use your own AI key in Settings.

Little Orbit Plus

Purchases are made through the App Store; we never see your payment details. So that Orbit's limits lift for Plus, the app sends our server your purchase's transaction ID, and the server confirms it with Apple. When one of you buys Plus, that purchase's ID syncs to your partner's phone through your shared log, so both phones have Plus.

Stars

Birth charts and the daily sky are worked out on your phone. If you enter a place of birth, Apple's location service is used to find its coordinates and time zone.

Notifications, calendars, and widgets

Feed reminders and alerts are local notifications created on your phone. If you choose to add appointments to your calendar, they're written to your calendar on the phone. Widgets and Live Activities read from the app on your phone.

What we don't do

Sharing

Anything you share from the app (a milestone, a look-back card, a reel, or a photo) is shared only when you tap share, to wherever you choose.

Your choices

You can export your log, or delete everything from Settings, at any time. Deleting removes it from your phone and your iCloud copy. Turning off Orbit's AI stops anything being sent to the AI provider.

Children

Little Orbit is used by parents and carers to record information about their baby. It isn't directed at children, and children don't use accounts in the app.
